In a quiet pond a female tree frog prepared for a generational handoff. Moonlight traced silver lines across still water as her body swelled with eggs. Clinging to submerged stems she selected plants that offered shelter and oxygen flow. Guided by instinct she formed a small raft like cluster then released eggs into their protected cradle. Soon wriggling tadpoles animated the shallows feeding and growing under her vigilant presence.
