The Caucasian Shepherd, or Caucasian Ovcharka, is a giant that can hit 200 pounds. To the uninitiated, sheer size is daunting. With proper handling it becomes a steadfast guardian. Males live about 10–12 years and hail from Russia and nearby regions. Bred for guarding and herding, it is powerful and bold. Without steady training and early socialization that same power can turn aggressive.
