As a herding breed the Australian Shepherd may attempt to control motion by circling or heel nipping especially with running children. They excel when given jobs agility trick training chore routines and puzzle tasks. Insufficient stimulation can yield barking spinning or shadow chasing. Teaching alternative behaviors during high energy child play prevents rehearsal of herding instincts indoors. Strong management helps them rest instead of self assigning work.
